Frontier Vantage TV remote control

Code entry instructions

Step 1: Press and hold a mode key ("TV", "DVD" or "AUX") and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter a 4-digit code.

Step 3: Test the "POWER", "VOL+/-", "MUTE" and "TV/VIDEO" buttons. If all work, setup is complete. If not, repeat this process using a different code.

Code search

Step 1: Turn on your device.

Step 2: Press and hold a mode key ("TV", "DVD" or "AUX") and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 3: Enter "9" "2" "2".

Step 4: Press and hold the "PLAY" key until the device turns off.

Step 5: Press the "ENTER" key to save the code.

Note:

  • To exit Code Search at any time without saving the code, press the "EXIT TO TV" key.

Volume Control

By default, once the TV mode key is programmed with a valid code, the volume and mute buttons control your TV. These keys adjust the volume of your TV regardless of whether the remote is in STB, TV, DVD, or AUX mode.

If you prefer, you can choose to have the volume and mute buttons always control a different device rather than your TV, such as a home theater receiver. Note that you must first program one of the mode keys, such as AUX, with a valid code for that device.

Alternatively, you can choose to have the volume and mute buttons control different devices when the remote is in different modes. For example, you might want to control the volume on your TV when in TV mode, but the volume on your home theater receiver when in AUX mode. Note that not all devices have volume controls, so if you choose this option, the volume and mute buttons may do nothing in some modes, such as STB and DVD.

Controlling Volume for One Device

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter the volume control setup code "9" "5" "5".

Step 3: Press and release the mode key for the device you want the volume keys to control. For example, if you want to control volume through your TV, press and release "TV". The volume keys now control only one device whether you are in STB, TV, DVD, or AUX mode.

Controlling Volume for Different Devices

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter the volume control setup code "9" "5" "5".

Step 3: Press and release the "ENTER" key. Now the volume keys will control the device assigned to that mode. For example, in TV mode, the volume keys control volume for the TV; in AUX mode, the volume keys control volume for the AUX device only.

Channel Control

The remote is set by default to control channel selection on the STB. You can also program channel control to control any of the TV, DVD, or AUX mode devices provided the device allows for channel control assignment. Or, you can set the channel selection control programming to control channels (or page up or down) for all of the devices programmed in the four mode keys. Otherwise, you can only control channels (or page up or down) on a specific device, for example, the TV or DVD.

Note:

  • The channel control keys include "CH/PG", "LAST", and the numeric keys "0" through "9".

Controlling Channels for One Device

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter channel control setup code "9" "6" "6".

Step 3: Press and release the mode key for the device you want the channel keys to control. For example, if you want to control channels on your TV, press and release "TV". The channel keys now always control the device associated with the mode you selected in this procedure, whether in STB, TV, DVD or AUX mode.

Controlling Channels for Different Devices

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter channel control setup code "9" "6" "6".

Step 3: Press and release the "ENTER" key. The channel keys now control the device associated with the mode key you select. For example, in TV mode, the channel keys control the TV, but in STB mode, the channel keys control the STB.

Power Control

The "POWER" key on the remote is set by default to control the power switch on one device at a time, in either mode (STB, TV, DVD, or AUX). When in STB mode, the remote switches ON/OFF only the Set Top Box. However, you can alternatively program the "POWER" key to control the power switch on up to four devices at the same time, instead of controlling one device at a time.

It is highly recommended that you set up the "POWER" key to turn on and off your STB and your TV at the same time. Turning off the STB saves electricity and extends the life of the box. When turned off, the STB can still record scheduled programs on its DVR and perform any other necessary functions.

Controlling Power for Multiple Devices at Once

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter the power control setup code "9" "7" "7".

Step 3: Press the device mode keys you want to add (e.g., "STB" and "TV" - max. 4 devices).

Step 4: Press the "ENTER" key to save the settings.

Controlling Power for One Device at a Time

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter the power control setup code "9" "7" "7".

Step 3: Press the "ENTER" key. Now the "POWER" key controls the device assigned to the mode you're in. For example, in TV mode, the remote controls power for the TV only.

Resetting the Remote to Factory Default Settings

You can return all advanced functions back to their original settings by resetting the remote to factory default settings. Resetting the remote to factory default settings removes all of the programming you have entered for the remote. After reset, you must reprogram the remote to restore your original settings.

Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" mode key and the "OK" key simultaneously for a few seconds. Release both keys.

Step 2: Enter "9" "0" "0". The remote will reset to factory defaults.

Programming with brand codes

Frontier FiberOptic TV P265v3.1 remote

Step 1: Turn on your TV and the Frontier STB. Make sure you can see live television.

Step 2: Press and hold the "OK" and "0" keys together for a few seconds, then release both. The red LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 3: Enter a 3-digit brand code. The LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 4: Press and release the "CH+" button repeatedly until the TV turns off. Some TVs may respond slower than others, so wait at least 1 second after each button press. You can also go backwards if you accidentally skipped the working code by pressing the "CH-" button.

Step 5 (Optional): Turn the TV on using the "TV Power" key, then press "VOL+", "VOL-", "Mute" and "A/V" (or "Input") keys to make sure they work. If a key does not work as expected, press and hold that key. Release it as soon as it works.

Step 6: Press "OK" to save your settings. The LED will blink 3 times and then turn off. Your remote control is now programmed for your TV!

Notes:

  • If you press the "CH+" button many times and the lights on the remote start to flash rapidly, it means the remote tried all the codes for that brand. If your TV did not respond to any of them, try the Code Search method below, which scans the complete database for all TV codes.
  • If you don't press any buttons for 60 seconds, the remote control will automatically exit programming mode.
  • If you think you made a mistake with programming your remote in any step of the procedure, you can always press the "Exit" button and start over. The LED will turn off when the remote exits programming mode.

Code Search

Step 1: Turn on your TV and the Frontier STB. Make sure you can see live television.

Step 2: Press and hold the "OK" and "LIVE TV" (or "FiOS TV") keys together for a few seconds, then release both. The red LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 3: Press and hold down the "▶" (Play) button until your TV turns off. This could take up to 15 minutes. The remote control will try a new TV code every second, and the LED will blink each time a new code is sent. When the TV turns off, stop pressing the play button right away.

Step 4 (Optional): Turn the TV on using the "TV Power" key, then press "VOL+", "VOL-", "Mute" and "A/V" (or "Input") keys to make sure they work. If a key does not work as expected, press and hold that key. Release it as soon as it works.

Step 5: Press "OK" to save your settings. The LED will blink 3 times and then turn off. Your remote control is now programmed for your TV!

Notes:

  • This code search method could take up to 15 minutes, as the remote must go through over 500 codes. The most common codes are tried first, but you may need to hold down the Play button for a while to locate the correct code.
  • Once you have tried all the TV codes in the remote control, the LED and the backlit buttons will flash 4 times rapidly, the LED will turn off and the remote will exit the programming mode.
  • Some TVs may respond slower than others. If your TV does not turn on after pressing "TV Power" in Step 4, it probably means you have skipped over your TV's code. You can press the "CH-" or "CH+" buttons to go back or forward one TV code at a time.
  • If you think you made a mistake with programming your remote in any step of the procedure, you can always press the "Exit" button and start over. The LED will turn off when the remote exits programming mode.

Key Fix

If your remote control is programmed for your TV, but some of the keys (e.g., "VOL+", "VOL-", "Mute" or the "A/V" keys) do not work correctly, you can try the following to fix the button(s):

Step 1: Press and hold the "OK" and "*" (or "CC") keys together for a few seconds, then release both. The red LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 2: Press and hold the key that does not work as it should until it sends the correct command. The remote control will try a new code every second. Once the TV responds correctly, release the button.

Step 3: Press "OK" to save the current settings and exit programming mode.

Control TV volume through STB

If the volume control keys don't work with your TV, you can program the remote so that the STB will control the volume.

Step 1: Press and hold the "OK" and "2" keys together for a few seconds, then release both. The red LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 2: Press "9" "5" "5". The red LED will blink twice and then remain on.

Step 3: Press "STB Power". The red LED will blink 3 times and then turn off.

Note:

  • If you want to change it back again, so that volume buttons control the TV's volume, follow the same steps as above but press "TV Power" in Step 3.

Power control

Your remote has separate power buttons for the TV and STB. You can program the "STB Power" key to turn on/off both your TV and STB at the same time.

Step 1: Press and hold the "OK" and "2" keys together for a few seconds, then release both. The red LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 2: Press "9" "7" "7". The red LED will blink twice and then remain on.

Step 3: Press "STB Power". The red LED will blink 3 times and then turn off.

Note:

  • If you want to reset the remote so that the "STB Power" key controls only the STB, follow the same steps as above but press "OK" in Step 3.

Reset the remote to its original factory defaults

To clear all previous programming and return the remote control to its original factory defaults, follow this procedure:

Step 1: Press and hold the "OK" and "2" keys together for a few seconds, then release both. The red LED will blink twice and then stay on.

Step 2: Press "9" "0" "0". The red LED will blink 3 times and then turn off to indicate that the original settings are restored.
