OneForAll Contour series, OFA 8, etc. programming instructions

OneForAll URC1280 Contour 8 universal remote

Programming instructions for One For All URC1210 (Contour TV), URC1240 (Contour 4), URC1280 (Contour 8), URC2981 (OFA8), URC3450 (Slim Line 4), etc. universal remote controls.

Direct code entry

Step 1: Select the device key corresponding to the equipment you wish to control (when programming a single-device remote like 'Contour TV', skip this step).

Step 2: Press and hold down the "SETUP"/"MAGIC" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 3: Enter your 4 digit device code using the number keys. The red LED lights up twice.

Step 4: Now, aim the remote at your device and press "POWER". If your device switches off, the OneForAll is ready to operate your device. If it does not switch off, try the next code listed for your brand.

Notes:

  • OFA8 and Slim Line remotes have "MAGIC" button instead of "SETUP". The code entry procedure is the same.
  • If none of the codes listed for your brand work, try the Code Search procedure below.

Code Search

The Search Method allows you to find the code for your device by scanning through all the codes contained in the memory of your remote. This may also work if your brand is not listed in the code lists.

Step 1: Switch on your device.

Step 2: Select the device key corresponding to the equipment you wish to control.

Step 3: Press and hold down the "SETUP"/"MAGIC" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 4: Type in 991. The red LED will blink twice.

Step 5: Next, press "POWER".

Step 6: Aim the remote at your device. Now press "CH+" over and over, until your device turns off. With every "CH+" key press the remote will send out the POWER signal from the next code contained in the memory. You may have to press this key many times (up to 150 times), so be patient.

Step 7: As soon as your device turns off, press the "SETUP"/"MAGIC" key to store the code.

Learning (copy)

A few models of remotes (e.g., all from the Contour series) support learning mode. To learn functions, the original remote should be approximately 3cm from the OFA remote, pointing towards it.

Step 1: Select the corresponding device.

Step 2: Press and hold down the "SETUP" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 3: Type in 975.

Step 4: Press and release the key you want to learn a function onto. The red LED will blink continuously.

Step 5: Press and release the corresponding key on the original remote.

Step 6: The red LED will blink twice to indicate the key has been learned correctly.

Step 7: Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each key you want to learn.

Step 8: To end the learning procedure, press and hold the "SETUP" key until the red LED blinks twice.

Notes:

  • You can learn from multiple remotes, but only one function per key.
  • If the red LED shows one long blink at step 6, the function was not learned correctly, try again from step 4.
  • If you find one or more keys don't work properly after set up, you can re-enter the learning mode at any time by repeating the procedure from step 1.

To delete a learned command and reobtain a key's original function:

Step 1: Select the corresponding device mode.

Step 2: Press and hold down the "SETUP" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 3: Type in 976.

Step 4: Press the key to be deleted twice.

Volume Lock

This feature gives you the possibility to set the Volume ("VOL+", "VOL-" and "Mute") to always control a certain device independent of which device mode key is selected.

In this example we will set Volume Control ("VOL+", "VOL-" and "Mute") to TV volume:

Step 1: Press and hold down the "SETUP"/"MAGIC" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 2: Type in 993.

Step 3: Press the "TV" key. The red light will blink twice.

Now you have set the Volume Control to TV volume. The "VOL+", "VOL-" and "Mute" keys will always control your TV's volume regardless of which device mode key (TV, SAT, DVD, etc.) is selected.

How to remove a device from Volume Control

Step 1: Select the device key you wish to deactivate from Volume Control.

Step 2: Press and hold down the "SETUP"/"MAGIC" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 3: Type in 993.

Step 4: Press the "VOL-" key and the red LED will blink 4 times. Now, the removed device will send out its own VOL+, VOL- and MUTE.

How to deactivate Volume Control

Step 1: Press and hold down the "SETUP"/"MAGIC" key until the red LED underneath the "POWER" key blinks twice (the red LED will blink once then twice).

Step 2: Type in 993.

Step 3: Press the "VOL+" key and the red LED will blink 4 times. Now, all devices will send out their own VOL+, VOL- and MUTE.
