Philips Remote Control programming instructions v.2

Philips SRP5018/27 8-in-1 Universal Remote Control

The instructions on this page apply for most newer Philips universal remotes using 5 digit codes such as the SRP5018, SRP3013, SRP3014, etc. See this page if you have a remote that uses 4 digit brand codes and this page for programming remotes with 4-digit codes.

Direct code entry

Step 1: Press and hold the device selection button ("TV", "DVD", etc.) for 5 seconds until the LED turns on.

Step 2: Look up the 5-digit code for your brand in the code lists and enter it using the digit buttons. If the light turns off, the code is valid. If you typed in an unsupported code the light will flash once and remains on for code re-entry.

Step 3: Operate the device with the universal remote. If your device responds correctly, it means you have entered the right code. Otherwise, repeat from step 1, and enter a different code from the list.

Code search

Before beginning code search, make sure the device you want to control is switched on.

Step 1: Press and hold the device selection button ("TV", "DVD", etc.) for 5 seconds until the LED turns on.

Step 2: With the universal remote pointed at your device press and release "Standby" to initiate the search process. A different infrared signal is sent every 2 seconds, indicated by a flash.

Step 3: When the device turns off, immediately press and release "OK" to save the code. The LED indicator will turn off.

Operate the device with the universal remote. If your device responds correctly, you have found the right code.

If you missed out the chance to press "OK" within 2 seconds, power on your device again and initiate a reverse code search by pressing and releasing "Standby" once more.

Learning commands

Select remotes such as the SRP5018 have a useful learning function. You can instruct these remotes to copy the codes transmitted by another remote control.

Step 1: Press and hold the device selection button ("TV", "DVD", etc.) for 5 seconds until the LED turns on.

Step 2: Enter the learning code '9','9','9','0','0'. The LED will flash once and then remains on.

Step 3: Place the universal remote control and the remote control you want to learn from on a flat surface, aiming at each other at a distance of 3-5 inches apart.

Step 4: Press and release the key on your universal remote control where you want to teach the new command. The LED indicator will flash twice then remains on.

Step 5: Press and hold the original key on the old remote control of your device for a few seconds.

Step 6: If the LED indicator light flashes once and then remains on, the command has been learned successfully. You can release the key on the remote control of your device. If the LED indicator light flashes 6 times quickly, it means there's an error in the learning process. Adjust the position of both remote controls and repeat from step 5 again.

Step 7: Repeat from step 4 to learn other key functions, or press the same device selection button you started with in step 1 to terminate the learning mode.

Notes:

  • On step 4, if no key is selected for more than 8 seconds, the LED indicator will flash twice and the learning mode will exit automatically.
  • On step 5, if no other remote signal is received for more that 15 seconds, the LED indicator will flash 6 times and then remains on. You will need to select a desired key again for learning as in step 4 on your universal remote control.
  • Each function key will hold only one command, a new command will automatically replace the previous one.

Clearing learned commands

To clear all codes learned for a particular device perform the following:
