This ergonomic remote control has only 21 keys, an operating distance of 33ft (10m) and a transmission angle of 45 degrees. It's pre-programmed for Philips TVs, but it can be set up to operate over 800 brands of traditional TVs, flat screen and projection TVs, TVs part of TV/VCR, TV/VCR/DVD and TV/DVD combos.
Step 1: Make sure the TV is switched on. Keep buttons "1" and "6" pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds. The green setup LED will light up, signaling that the remote control entered setup mode.
Step 2: Look up the 4-digit code for your brand here and enter it using the digit buttons on your remote. Use '9999' in case you cannot find your brand. If after typing in the 4th digit the green setup light turns off, an invalid code was entered, you must type in the code again.
Step 3: Aim the remote control at the TV. Press and hold the "Standby" button. Release it immediately as soon as the TV switches off. The remote control is now set up to operate your TV. This step normally takes between 5 and 60 seconds. Using code '9999' for a full database search may result in a longer setup (up to 15 minutes).
Step 4: Switch on the TV. See if the most used buttons, e.g. channel up/down, volume up/down, the digit buttons, etc. function properly. If a button does not work as expected, press and hold that button and release it immediately as it transmits the required command.
Step 5: When no button is pressed for 5 minutes or more, the remote control will exit setup mode automatically, saving all your settings. To finish setup immediately, keep buttons "1" and "6" pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds.
When correctly set up, the remote control should be able to operate your TV. However, it might occur that some buttons do not function as expected. In that case you can force the remote control to search for alternatives.
Note: Improving buttons is not possible when the code was found during full database search (with code '9999').
Step 1: After making sure the TV is switched on keep buttons "1" and "4" pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds. The green setup LED will light up.
Step 2: Press and hold the button that does not function properly and immediately release it when the TV responds. If the button still does not function as expected, try pressing it again for a longer period of time.
Step 3: Keep buttons "1" and "6" pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds to save your settings and exit setup mode.
If a reprogrammed button still does not function as expected, you can always reset it to its original function:
Step 1: Keep buttons "1" and "6" pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds, until the green setup LED lights up. The remote control is now in setup mode.
Step 2: Press "9", "9" and "6", in that order. After each button press the green setup light blinks once.
Step 3: Press the button that you wish to reset twice. After each button press the green setup light blinks once. The green setup light will blink one more time to confirm that the button was successfully reset to its original function.
