The standard setup procedure for TiVo remote controls is done with the help of on-screen menus, but you can also program them independently.
To manually program a TiVo S2-S6, Voice series, Bolt, Vox, etc. remote control, try 'Direct code entry' first, and if none of the codes listed for your brand work or your brand is not listed, try to find a working code with 'Code search'.
First, turn on your TV or audio device. Refer to the code lists and note the first code listed for your brand.
Step 1: Simultaneously press the "TiVo" and "TV PWR" keys for 3 seconds. The feedback LED will turn on and stay on.
Step 2: Using the numeric keys, enter the first code for your brand. The activity LED will blink 3 times and turn off.
Step 3: Point the remote at your TV or audio device and press the "TV PWR" key to see if it responds. If the device does not turn off, repeat this procedure using the next code listed for your brand.
To make sure you programmed in the right code, test other functions: for a TV, point the remote at your TV and press the "INPUT", "VOL" and "MUTE" keys. If the TV Input or volume does not change, start again, selecting the next code listed for your brand. If the TV responds to key presses as expected, setup is complete.
Step 1: Simultaneously press the "TiVo" and "INPUT" keys for 3 seconds until the feedback LED stays lit.
Step 2: Using the numeric keys, enter the first code for your brand. The activity LED will blink 3 times and turn off.
Step 3: Point the remote at your device and press the "INPUT" key. If the TV does not display the name of a signal source, repeat this procedure, selecting the next code listed for your brand.

Step 3: Point the remote at the device and test the "VOL" and "MUTE" keys. If the volume does not increase, decrease and mute, repeat this procedure, selecting the next code listed for your brand. If the volume controls all functions as expected, setup is complete.
If none of the codes listed for your brand work, or your brand is not listed, try to find a working code with 'Code search'.

Step 4: Press "Channel Up" once every 2 seconds. This will test all preprogrammed codes, one by one.
Step 5: When your TV turns off, press "Enter" to select the code. Press the "TV Power" button. If your TV turns on, you have successfully programmed your remote.
Note: If you cycle through all the codes, the LED will go off, indicating that you have tried all the codes. If this happens, or if you selected a code but the TV does not respond to the test, try again to make sure you did not skip over your code by going too fast.

Step 3: Point the remote controls directly at each other, no more than 1 inch apart.
Step 4: Press and hold the corresponding button on the donor remote (e.g., "Power") until the TiVo remote flashes in response. If learning is successful, the LED will flash 4 times. (If learning is not successful, the LED will flash 10 times very quickly. You will need to repeat steps 1-4 before moving forward.)
Step 5: Repeat steps 2-4 until you have trained all the desired functions. When you are finished, press the "TiVo" button to exit learning mode and return the remote to normal operation.
Notes: Learning remotes can control power for up to 3 different devices:
