The Philips RC144 remote comes from the factory ready to control your FiOS TV STB. However, "VOL+", "VOL-" and "Mute" will not control your TV until you program the remote with the brand of TV you have.
In addition to your STB and TV, your remote can also control two additional devices, for example, a DVD player and an audio receiver. Every device must be programmed in separately. To program your remote, follow these steps:
Step 1: Press and hold the device key you want to program (e.g., "TV", "DVD", "AUX" or "STB"). While holding down the device key, press the "OK" key. Release both keys. The device keys will blink twice.
Step 2: Enter a 4-digit code. The device key will blink 3 times.
Step 3: To test if this is the correct code, point the remote at your device and press "Power". If the device turns off, you have successfully programmed your remote. If the device does not turn off, repeat all the steps with the next code in the list.
Notes:
If none of the codes worked or you can't find your brand in the code lists, try the following procedure:
Step 1: Turn on your device.
Step 2: Press and hold the device key you want to program (e.g., "TV", "DVD", "AUX" or "STB"). While holding down the device key, press the "OK" key. Release both keys. The device keys will blink twice.

If you want the "Power" key to control multiple devices at once:
Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" key. While holding down the "STB" key, press "OK". Release both keys. The device keys will blink twice.
Step 2: Press "9" "7" "7". The "STB" key will blink twice.
Step 3: One after the other, press each device key you want the "Power" key to control in the order you want them to turn on or off.
Step 4: Press "OK" when done. The "STB" key will blink 3 times to indicate success.
For example, to program the "Power" key to turn on or off your TV, AUX and STB, in that order, with one press of "Power", press "STB"+"OK", "9" "7" "7", "TV", "AUX", "STB", "OK".
If you find that your TV and STB do not always turn on or off together as expected, then you should program your remote to power on/off your devices separately.
If you want the "Power" key to control only one device at a time:
Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" key. While holding down the "STB" key, press "OK". Release both keys. The device keys will blink twice.
Step 2: Press "9" "7" "7". The "STB" key will blink twice.
Step 3: Press "OK". The "STB" key will blink 3 times to indicate success. Now, to power any device, you will need to press the appropriate device key, then the "Power" key.
To clear all previous programming and return the remote control to its original factory defaults, follow this procedure:
Step 1: Press and hold the "STB" key. While holding down the "STB" key, press "OK". Release both keys. The device keys will blink twice.
Step 2: Press "9" "0" "0". The "STB" key will blink 3 times to indicate success.
Step 1: Press and hold a device key (e.g., "TV", "AUDIO", "DVD/VCR", "CABLE") for at least 6 seconds. The LEDs for each device key will light up, then the LED for the device you pressed will remain on.
Step 2: Enter a 4-digit code. The device key LED turns off briefly after each key press. If the remote recognizes the code, the device key's LED blinks 3 times. If not, the LED will turn off.
Step 3: You can now test the remote by pressing "POWER". If your device responds (turns off), you have found the right code. If your device does not respond, repeat the procedure with the next code listed for your brand.
Note:
Step 1: Press and hold a device key (e.g., "TV", "AUDIO", "DVD/VCR", "CABLE") for at least 6 seconds. The LEDs for each device key will light up, then the LED for the device you pressed will remain on.
Step 2: Press a function key (such as "Power"). The following function keys are valid for searching: "Power", "Mute", "Play", "CH+" and "Stop". The device key's LED blinks 3 times, then turns off.
Step 3: Point the remote at your device and press "▲" (Up Arrow) button repeatedly until the device responds. The remote will send the IR command for the function you selected in Step 2. You can also press "▼" (Down Arrow) to retry the previous code if you accidentally skipped the one that worked.
Step 4: Press "OK" to save the code.
Step 1: Press and hold a device key (e.g., "TV", "AUDIO", "DVD/VCR", "CABLE") for at least 6 seconds. The LEDs for each device key will light up, then the LED for the device you pressed will remain on.
Step 2: Press "9" "9" "0". The LED will blink twice.
Step 3: Press "1", then count the LED blinks and write down the number. If the LED does not blink, the number is 0. This is the first digit of the device code. Then press "2", "3", and "4" to obtain the rest of the code digits.
Locking the volume controls to a single device makes it easier to control volume, without having to guess whether the volume will change. If you lock the remote's volume controls to the TV (for example), you will always be able to change the volume to the level you want, without having to adjust it on multiple devices.
Step 1: Press and hold the device mode key ("TV", "AUDIO", "DVD/VCR" or "CABLE") corresponding to the device you want to control volume, for at least 6 seconds. The LED for each device key lights up, then the key for the device you selected remains on.
Step 2: Press "VOL+" to lock volume or "VOL-" to unlock volume. The device key will blink 3 times.
Notes:
Each device key accesses a specific type of device (for example, the "DVD/VCR" key can only be programmed to control a DVD player, VCR, DVR, or HTIB system). This makes it easier to search for a code if your device's code does not appear in the code lists.
The Motorola DRC800 remote allows you to change the type of device that may be assigned to a device key. That way, if you have two TVs, for example, you can control them both by changing the type of device of the "DVD/VCR" or "AUDIO" mode keys.
Step 1: Press and hold the device mode key ("TV", "AUDIO", "DVD/VCR", or "CABLE") corresponding to the type of device you want the reassigned key to control (for example, "TV") for at least 6 seconds. The LED for each device key lights up, then the key for the device you selected remains on.
Step 2: Enter "9" "9" "2".
Step 3: Press the device mode key you want to reassign (for example, "AUDIO"). If you want to assign a key back to its original device type, press the device mode key you selected in Step 1 again. That mode key's LED will blink 3 times and will turn off.
Notes:
Step 1: Press and hold a device mode key ("TV", "AUDIO", "DVD/VCR", or "CABLE") or at least 6 seconds. The LED for each device key lights up, then the key for the device you selected remains on.
Step 2: Enter "9" "8" "1". The LED will blink twice to indicate that your remote is returned to its factory settings.
Step 1: Press and hold "SELECT" and the appropriate mode key (e.g., "TV", "DVD", "VCR", "AUX", "CBL") until all mode keys blink twice. For example, to set up the TV, press and hold "SELECT" and "TV".
Step 2: Enter a 4-digit code. All mode keys will blink twice.
Step 3: Point the remote at the device and press different keys (e.g., "POWER", "VOL+/-", "PLAY", etc.) to test the device. If the device responds, you have successfully programmed your remote. If not, repeat these steps using a different setup code. Repeat this procedure for each mode key you want to program.
Step 1: Turn on your device.
Step 2: Press and hold "SELECT" and the appropriate mode key (e.g., "TV", "DVD", "VCR", "AUX", "CBL") until all mode keys blink twice. For example, to search for a TV code, press and hold "SELECT" and "TV".
Step 3: Press "9" "9" "1". The current mode key will blink twice.
Step 4: Point the remote toward the device, and press "PLAY". The remote automatically tests each code in its library, beginning with the most common codes. The mode key blinks once each time the remote transmits a new code and blinks twice when it reaches the last code.
Step 5: As soon as the device powers off, press "SELECT".
Step 6: Verify the new code is correct by pressing "POWER". If the device powers on, press "SELECT" to save the code. If the device does not respond, press "CH-" or "CH+" to step back or forward to the correct code, and when the device turns off, press "SELECT" to save the code.
Step 1: Press and hold "SELECT" and the appropriate mode key (e.g., "TV", "DVD", "VCR", "AUX", "CBL") until all mode keys blink twice.
Step 2: Press "9" "9" "0". The current mode key will blink twice.
Step 3: Press "1" and count the number of times the mode key blinks. The number of blinks indicates the first digit in the code. If the mode key does not blink, the digit is 0. Press "2", "3" and "4" for the remaining digits. After all four numbers in the code are identified, all mode keys will blink 3 times.
Your Scientific Atlanta AT8550 AllTouch remote is originally programmed in one of the following ways:
Before you change how the power control functions, try your remote to see how the power control currently works. When trying out your remote, keep in mind that the remote provides a temporary override for power control.
For example, if you press the "TV" key and then the "POWER" key within 3 seconds, the remote turns on the TV only, regardless of the programmed power settings. To see how the remote was originally programmed, wait at least 5 seconds before pressing the "POWER" key after you press any mode key.
Does your remote already control power for your cable box and TV at the same time? If not, Scientific Atlanta strongly recommends that you program the remote to turn off the cable box each time you turn off your TV.
Turning off the cable box is especially important for high-end cable boxes that contain hard drives for recording and storing TV programs and movies. Not only will you reduce wear and tear from the hard disk spinning constantly, but you'll also conserve electricity. As long as the cable box remains plugged in, the cable box will receive programming updates, and, if applicable, record programs and movies.
Step 1: Press and hold "SELECT" and "CBL" until all mode keys blink twice.
Step 2: Press "9" "9" "8". The "CBL" key will blink twice.
Step 3: Press the mode key for the first device in the group of devices you want to power on/off at once. The "CBL" key blinks twice.
Step 4: Press the mode key for the second device in your power group. The "CBL" key will blink twice.
Step 5: If you want the remote to control power for 3 or 4 devices at once, press the mode keys for the next devices you want to add to the power group. The "CBL" key will blink twice after each mode key is pressed.
Step 6: Press "SELECT" to save your power settings. All mode keys will blink 3 times.
Step 1: Press and hold "SELECT" and "CBL" until all mode keys blink twice.
Step 2: Press "9" "9" "8". The "CBL" key will blink twice.
Step 3: Press "SELECT" to save your power settings. All mode keys will blink 3 times.
After you select a mode, the "POWER" key will control the device assigned to that mode. For example, in "TV" mode, the remote will control power for the TV only.
